Two of my most loved friends got married a few weeks ago. Sadly due to personal life being absolutely crazy, I wasn’t able to make it to the wedding; but thankfully I’d planned ahead and squirrelled away a painting for them.
The bride wore a beautiful white gown, and rainbow striped shoes. When I learned this, I knew I had to paint them something rainbow-esque because it really sums up the kind of fun people that they are.
I took advantage of the last class in abstract painting to begin this piece. Here’s what it looked like in the beginning (sorry for the potato quality, I really didn’t get a close-up photo of this piece at all!):
When I was out of class and left to my own devices, I really wanted to play around with paint texture a little more.
So here’s the final piece 🙂
I think my next project will be back to working naturalistically. While I have enjoyed the freedom of abstract painting, I always feel as though I want something physical to reference in order to keep the painting grounded.
Thanks for the fab painting, I hung it on me wall
I knew it was a painting! Perfect.
